Questions
Do accessibility overlays prevent ADA lawsuits?
No. UsableNet counted 1,023 companies with an overlay live on their site that were sued in 2024, and in January 2025 the FTC ordered an overlay vendor to pay $1M over deceptive "compliance" claims. Only fixing your underlying code removes the failures a tester would cite. AdaClear is not legal advice, and no tool can promise you will not be sued.
How much of WCAG can an automated scan catch?
Only part of it. When GOV.UK tested tools on a page with 143 planted barriers, single tools found 17 to 41% of them (GOV.UK, 2017), and Deque's study of its own axe tools across 2,000+ audits put coverage at about 57% of issues by volume (Deque, 2021). The rest needs human judgement (is the alt text meaningful? is the reading order logical?). We're upfront about this; anyone claiming "100% automatic compliance" is selling you risk. Does this also cover the EU Accessibility Act (EAA)?
Yes. WCAG 2.2 is the technical basis for both US ADA and the EU Accessibility Act (mandatory since June 2025). One scan covers both.
