Wix accessibility: what the built-in tools do (and don't) cover

Wix has an Accessibility Wizard, but a green checkmark in the editor is not the same as WCAG/ADA compliance.

The gap: Wix's Accessibility Wizard nudges you toward good practices, but it can't judge whether your alt text is meaningful, whether your brand colors pass contrast, or whether a custom section is keyboard-operable. Those are the things that actually get sites sued.

Common WCAG failures on Wix sites

Test the live site, not the editor

The editor's checker looks at your setup; a real audit looks at what a browser and screen reader actually receive on the published page. Always scan your live yoursite.com URL.

Overlays aren't the answer here either

Bolting an accessibility widget onto a Wix site doesn't fix the underlying content, and overlay-running sites still get sued (FTC, $1M fine, 2025). See our accessiBe alternative and ADA lawsuit guide. Building on other platforms? We also cover WordPress, Shopify and Squarespace.
