Wix accessibility: what the built-in tools do (and don't) cover

Wix has an Accessibility Wizard, but a green checkmark in the editor is not the same as WCAG/ADA compliance.

Common WCAG failures on Wix sites

• Missing or auto-generated alt text on images you uploaded: see our alt-text guide.
• Low-contrast brand palettes chosen in the editor: check with our contrast guide.
• Heading structure abused for styling: using big/small text instead of real H1 to H3 order confuses screen readers.
• Uninformative link text: "click here" / "read more" repeated everywhere.
• Custom/embedded elements (Velo widgets, third-party embeds) that skip keyboard and ARIA support.

Test the live site, not the editor

The editor's checker looks at your setup; a real audit looks at what a browser and screen reader actually receive on the published page. Always scan your live yoursite.com URL.

Overlays aren't the answer here either
